Who is the Worst - The Worst Legislators Have Been Crowned
The 2017 legislative session brought out the worst in anti-choice extremists in the legislatures. It's hard to choose the biggest offender against sexual and reproductive health care, so we let you choose with your donation.
Now, we have tallied up the donations made in each legislators name and we are ready to announce the winner by state. Whomever receives the most donations in their name per state will receive a special acknowledgment letter from Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes. All proceeds will support PPGPV's advocacy and policy work in each of our states.
Thanks for voting, because we know this is the only way we'll ever vote for any of these anti-health care ideologues!
Arkansas Crowns Sen. Rapert as the Worst
Sen. Jason Rapert
Sen. Jason Rapert lead the charge on efforts to change the U.S. Constitution to include language that life begins at conception. He also co-sponsored a bill that shames and stigmatizes safe, legal abortion by forcing providers to issue fetal death certificates as early as 12 weeks of conception.
Kansas Crowns Rep. Yoder as the Worst
Rep. Kevin Yoder
Congressman Kevin Yoder repeatedly refused to attend town halls with his constituents in Johnson County. Even after a flood of phone calls and e-mails urging him not to repeal the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood, Congressman Yoder cast his vote against the will of the majority. On May 4th, Yoder voted to repeal the ACA and block Medicaid patients from accessing Planned Parenthood Great Plains health centers, turning his back on 24 million American lives.
Missouri Crowns Rep. Moon as the Worst
Rep. Mike Moon
For Rep. Mike Moon, it wasn't enough to compare abortion to slavery saying, "there is a comparison there that we're actually stating that they're not humans." He publicly whined in a YouTube video after his constituents sent him postcards in support of Planned Parenthood. "You have caused a fire within me to stop abortion to burn even hotter...so, keep the cards and letters coming."
Oklahoma Crowns Rep. Faught as the Worst
Rep. George Faught
When debating a dangerous anti-abortion bill, Rep. Faught refused to include exceptions for rape and incest, saying rape and incest "is the will of god" and that even in these cases, "god can bring beauty from ashes".
