Victory at the Supreme Court for PPKM and Advocates Across the Country

Today, in a landmark victory, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, the Center for Reproductive Rights’ (CRR) challenge to abortion restrictions that passed in 2013 as part of Texas HB2. The Court struck down both the admitting privileges and ambulatory surgical center restrictions statewide, protecting current access to abortion in Texas and allowing for expanded access in the future.

We’re Ready. Are You?

The clock is ticking down to THE abortion rights case of this generation. The Supreme Court will decide on Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt Monday, June 27. The case will determine whether two so-called “TRAP”(Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers) laws in Texas are undue burdens on patients. Both of the medically unnecessary restrictions at front and center in the case are also enforced in Missouri. They are currently being held up in the court system in Kansas.

Rally At The Steps

“Abortion is Medical! Not Political!”, the crowd chanted at the steps of the Supreme Court of the United States. A crowd of close to 4,000 pro-choice activists and advocates filled the block on which the highest court convened to hear arguments in the most important abortion related case in a generation. For four hours, speakers spanning all races, ethnicities, sexual and gender identities, religious beliefs and political leanings spoke loud and proud in support of abolishing medically unnecessary laws that restrict access to abortion.
