A few weeks ago, we posted a blog about Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) and about how deceptive and stigmatizing they are to patients seeking options. Planned Parenthood Great Plains and Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes administrative offices now have a new neighbor - a crisis pregnancy center called Advice & Aid. Funny title for a place that offers medically inaccurate information on abortion and emergency contraception. What's even more shameful? The Overland Park Chamber of Commerce and the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce are listed on their websites. We'd like the Overland Park and Shawnee Chambers to have Planned Parenthood advice and aid:
Advice & Aid is a member of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, an anti-choice group that further stigmatizes abortion and the people who choose it. CPCs like Advice & Aid use deceptive marketing tactics to lure patients in and then shame them out of choosing one of many valid options for a pregnancy. Many CPC staff members wear scrubs and other medical looking uniforms but in reality, are not medically licensed in the least bit.
