We gathered, made signs, and shared stories. It’s been a good day leading up to today’s big hearing. Patient advocate, Jackie Casteel of Columbia, MO, and two patient advocates from the St. Louis area – Sarah Birdsall and Ellen Dempsher, met over lunch and shared their stories of how and why they have come to Washington DC to support Planned Parenthood at the Supreme Court. We then met other supporters at Planned Parenthood’s headquarters, created messages for the rally and listened to other powerful stories of how Planned Parenthood has provided crucial health care for everyone in the room.

Jackie, like many others who have come to attend this morning’s rally, share a deeply personal experience with abortion. This morning, they will tell those stories at the steps of the Supreme Court where 3,500 people will gather as the court is set to hear arguments in the most important abortion related case in a generation. Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt is a landmark case challenging TRAP (Targeted Regulations of Abortion Providers) laws that Missouri has been operating under for decades.
