Planned Parenthood is celebrating CIS, trans, gay and bi-sexual men throughout June 15 – 21st in honor of National Men’s Health Week and encouraging them to take charge of their health with regular check ups and STI screenings! PPKM is also proud to provide care for trans men at the Northland Health Center in Gladstone.
Only about 14% of U.S. men ages 15-49 make a reproductive and sexual health visit annually according to a study by the Guttmacher Institute. Being responsible for your health and the health of your partner is sexy and getting checked regularly can catch any problems early before they become serious. STI tests are quick and simple and Planned Parenthood health care centers offer:
- STI testing and treatment
- HIV testing and counseling
- Urinary discomfort
- Testicular cancer screenings and referral
- Colorectal cancer screenings and referral
- Penile skin lesion/ rash (jock itch) exam and treatment
Remember that most STIs don’t cause any symptoms so the best way to know for sure is to get tested! The sooner you know you status, the better you can protect your health and the health of your partner(s). Check out these questions men frequently ask about their health on birth control, getting check-ups and how to talk to your doctor about sex as answered by Planned Parenthood’s VP for External Medical Affairs, Dr. Vanessa Cullins.
If you have even more questions, text them safely and discreetly to Planned Parenthood at ‘774636’!
