Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri is proud to announce its Wichita Health Center now offers medication abortion. This comes as PPKM works hard to ensure access to safe and legal abortion remains open to Kansans across the state.
“Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and now women have one more option in Wichita when making this very personal decision. This is a proud moment for the Planned Parenthood team – to say we’ve expanded access for Kansas women,” Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri Director of Communications and Marketing, Bonyen Lee-Gilmore said.
Medication abortion or the “abortion pill” is a two step process. A woman will take the first pill, Mifepristone, at the Planned Parenthood health center with the physician. The second pill, Misoprostol, is taken a few days later at home.
PPKM also expanded health services, which include transgender care, HIV preventive care and menopausal symptom management. For a complete list of health centers where you can find specialized care, click here.
